On arrival to WA our former club president Alexx Mudd engaged Sven Targett from Equi Move to conduct a gait analysis of her horse BB. The results of the analysis and subsequent corrective shoeing over the last 6 months has increased BB’s length of stride by 73mm, stopped the forging and allowed BB to move with greater freedom and balance, Alexx could not be happier!
We thought it would be a great opportunity for our members and the wider equestrian community to have access to this information and technology and Sven agreed to come to Darwin to present for us.
A brief BIO about Sven:
“After leaving school I went to a junior rider program with Australian Olympian Matt Ryan. Matt was based in the UK and this is where I spent the majority of my professional riding career, riding young eventing and dressage horses in his system. After emigrating to Australia, I continued riding and teaching with my own horses until becoming a mature aged farrier 20 years ago. I have spent the last 15 years specialising in rehabilitation work across multiple veterinary clinics in WA. For the last five years I have focused my business to purely high performance horses and rehabilitation cases”.
“We added state of the art diagnostic equipment which has allowed us to answer some intriguing questions like “How do I know that’s the best shoe for the horse?” or the other way to ask that question is “how do we know that the horse isn’t compensating as a result of what we are doing to it”. We now specialise in using x-ray and external imagery combined with movement analysis to assess each individual horse”.
